The Halfbike has three wheels, of which the rear pair helps with the steering. Since the handlebars are immovable, you set the bike's direction with your body. So, when you lean to one side, you initiate a turn. Also, you ride the bike while standing up, which makes the motion resemble running, but without the added strain on the knees and joints. The Halfbike comes with a somewhat challenging — yet rewarding — learning curve, and to get used to it, you will need to train your muscle memory and balance. The two are so different that it's hard to compare them. The feeling of riding a Halfbike is frankly nothing like riding a standard bicycle. But if we must pick a few, we would probably go for the fun of riding, its lightness and compactness.

Yes, you can fold it in a matter of seconds. The handlebar drops backwards, making the bike quite compact. Once folded, it can be effortlessly taken on board public transport or put in the trunk of a small car even.

When it comes to distances, people who are just starting up will most probably take it slow and small. However, as you get more comfortable and confident on the bike, you will be able to ride as much and as far as you like. We've received numerous reports of people riding their Halfbikes for dozens, even hundreds of kilometres/miles at a time. So, it all comes down to one's desires and motivation.

Halfbike 3 is best suited to flat ground. However, it can manage going up hills as well. We can tell from experience that the four-speed hub works fine for inclines up to 7-8%, but anything over that would be a struggle.

We can put the comfort range in between 150 and 195 cm / 4'11" to 6'5", while the maximum rider weight is 100 kg / 225 lbs.

Keeping your tires inflated well will make for a more comfortable and smooth ride. We recommend that all three tires be kept at 3.5 bar / 50psi.

Yes, the front (18") & rear tires (8") are standard. They can be found in most bike or skate shops.

Yes, the Halfbike 3 has a front drum brake integrated into the four-speed hub. It is pretty much maintenance-free, and its performance remains consistent over time and in all weather conditions.

Learning to ride a Halfbike from scratch takes time and practice, so don’t expect to just hop on it and cruise away. Think of it as learning to ride a bicycle for the first time. Most people get the basics and succeed in riding in a straight line in under 10-15 minutes. From then on, the experience begins gradually to feel less like a struggle and more like fun. Having a little patience and determination will surely help. Keep in mind that it’s more challenging than it may seem in the videos. Yet, it takes only a few days of practice for most people to be able to ride with such ease.

Riding a Halfbike is probably unlike anything you've tried so far. In that sense, knowing how to ride a bicycle, for example, would be of little help. Still, if you've been practising any sport, if you have a good sense of balance, or you're just fit and athletic, the chances are that you'll find it a lot easier.

Yes, the Halfbike 3 has a hub with four internal gears made by Sturmey-Archer. A small shifter mounted on the handlebar makes the switching between gears possible.

A typical cruising speed on flat ground is around 20kph / 13mph. However, it can go faster if the rider pedals harder :) All in all, consider riding a Halfbike as being a little slower than riding a regular bicycle.
