I work as a sports, movement, and play coach. And I have been an avid rider of wheeled things for decades (bikes, boards, unicycles, etc.) - so I was eager to try something new and different. Bingo - Halfbike!
It rides as advertised - like running AND skiing without impact. It’s both a good cardio workout and a muscle strength and endurance builder.
While it was unlike anything else with wheels - I was able to ride on my second try (see pic). Wahoo! I was a bit wobbly and unsure that first day, but my balance and steering skills improve every time I ride. Definitely haven’t mastered it yet - but/and loving the challenge. It helped me to imagine I’m riding on a skateboard -facing forward - with a handle & wheel in front of me - kind of a stand-up trike. I’m up to about 8 mile per ride. I look forward to getting on it at least once a week.
