We can’t wait to share this journey with you, and we hope you’re just as pumped as we are. Here’s the latest news: Main communication channel: FACEBOOK EVENT 1. Arrival Time: When Will We Get There? Our Halfbike team of 8 will arrive on May 1st in the afternoon and head back home on May 4th at the end of the day. Our Spanish fleet of enthusiasts—the main culprits of the event—joined by partners in crime from Italy and Ireland, a total of 7 people, are expected to arrive in Valencia on May 2nd. 2. Accommodation Details: Where Will We Rest? Our local secret weapon, Mike Camarasa, has recommended a couple of great places: A. Ibis budget Valencia Centro Puerto; link here; B. Apartments next to the City of Arts and Sciences; link here. Some of the participants from last year have already booked rooms at the Ibis (A), while others have rented flats (according to our local friend, plenty are available in the area). You can check out the suggested locations (in pink) and some of the already booked spots (in white) on the map below (the pink line is the intended Saturday route; it's explained later): 250402 37990 valencia 3. Plans Ahead: What’s on the Agenda? May 2nd / Friday: The first official day of the meetup is Friday, May 2nd. Mike, our most avid Halfbiker in Valencia and our local guide, will take us to a cafe downtown in the afternoon to "break the ice," as he put it, get to know each other, and go over some arrangements for the main day. Some may be tired from the trip, so we don’t expect everyone to attend, but we’d love to meet you there. Plus, it’ll be a great opportunity to explore Valencia a bit! May 3rd / Saturday: Saturday, May 3rd—the BIG day! Here’s the plan so far: We’ll meet around 10:00 a.m. at Santiago Calatrava's iconic ‘Exposition Bridge’ (number 1 on the map below) and take a picturesque ride to the Port of Valencia (4). Along the way, we’ll pass by beautiful spots like the City of Arts and Sciences (2), Tinglat 2 (near 3), and Malvarrosa Beach (between 4 and 5). As a well-deserved reward, we’ll have a group lunch at the La Murciana restaurant (5) around 2:00 p.m. * A quick note here: This route offers a 10km ride on flat terrain, making it easy enough for Halfbikers of all levels. We’ll make plenty of stops for photos, chats, and a refreshing drink by the sea. So, fear not! We’ll take it easy. After lunch, those who are up for it can join us for a city tour. Heads up, though—our team is ⅜ architects, so we might have a soft spot for buildings and certain urban spaces, but we’ll do our best to avoid going overboard. :) We’re also planning some fun Halfbike games and/or competitions, and those who are curious will have the chance to try the very first Halfbike model—it’s a whole other beast! Anyone who needs a little rest would be more than welcome to join us later for dinner (around 8:30 p.m.) or perhaps a drink at a bar to wrap up the day. May 4th / Sunday: On our last official day, May 4th, we’ll meet at the same spot as Saturday—around the “Exposition Bridge” (1). For the early birds or the most dedicated Halfbikers, our local guide suggested being there at 8:30 a.m. On a Sunday—we know! But that’ll give us plenty of time to take a combined route through the old town and the City of Arts and Sciences (2). According to Mike, it’s going to be a magical ride as we wind through the quiet streets and turn them into our playground. We’re trusting him on that! :) Around 10:00 a.m., we suggest a stop for a drink and a snack to say our goodbyes to everyone heading home that day.
